Additional Pages

Whether you are selling your book or making it for friends and family, there are a variety of additional pages that you will need to add to complete your book.

While the exact requirements will vary by book type and your own interests and ideas, there are a few key pages that our additional pages services can help with:

Copyright Page

• This page is essential to show your right to be recognized as the author of your book
• Copyright, the year of publication and your name. This means you keep the rights to the book. If you put Fortress Books and Web here, you are giving us the rights to your book. This is how traditional publishing services work
• “All rights reserved paragraph” – this tells people that they can’t copy any part of your book without your authorization
• The publisher – you can choose if you want to put your own name and address or that of Fortress Books and Web
• Any thanks or credits you want to give to other people for helping with the book
• Cover and text design, credit for front and back cover photos
• Where the book was printed
• Author and title
• ISBN if you are selling your book – find out more about getting an ISBN here
• Keywords including author name and key themes
• This page is on the left side page – for more about formatting, click here

Inner Title Pages

• First title page – this page is usually just the title of the book. You could add a black and white photo behind the text if desired
• Second title page – this page usually contains the title, subtitle (if you have one), author(s) and Fortress Books and Web logo if you want to use it
• Both of these pages are on the right side page – for more about formatting, click here

Dedication Page

• While not essential, if you want to dedicate your book to someone or express thanks for a contributor, you can do this here
• It goes after the second title page
• It is a right side page – for more about formatting, click here

Contents Page

• If your book is a personal story, a contents page might not be relevant, but you can include it if you would like
• If your book covers a theory or history topic, a contents page might be more relevant to help readers assess if the book covers what they are looking for, or to help them jump to a key topic
• This is the last additional page before your book starts
• This is a right side page – for more about formatting, click here

Other Books Page

• Have you written more than one book? If so, you might like to list them so that your readers can find these books too, usually listed in the order your wrote them
• You can include a link to your personal website or Fortress Books and Web so your readers can buy your other books
• This goes before your contents page and after your second title page
• This is a left side page – for more about formatting, click here

References Page

• This is where you list all the sources you used in the book. They include books, websites, journal articles, personal communications, videos and music
• Standardized formats for referencing all of these sources are available, with different styles available so you can choose one that appeals to you
• This page usually goes right after your book content finishes
• Your references usually start on the right side, but this isn’t essential – for more about formatting, click here

Author Page

• If you want to tell your readers more about yourself, such as your qualifications to write this book or your personal story that makes your story relevant, an author page is a great place to do it
• You can include a photo of yourself, it can either be a head-shot style, or a photo of you doing something relevant to the topic of your book such as riding a horse
• You can include a link to your website or Fortress Books and Web’s website for readers to find out more about you and buy your book
• It is usually the final text page in your book, depending if you have references or not
• It is usually a right side page, but this isn’t essential – for more about formatting, click here
