From the Men of the Moors who first defended their Scottish homeland, to the multi-generational ranching and guiding business in the Chilcotin Ark of British Columbia, Canada, the Moore family’s 3,000 year journey is deeply intertwined with Scottish, American and Canadian history. From their Celtic beginnings, defending their lands from Romans, Gaels, Saxons, Vikings, Normans and the English, the Moores developed into Scotland’s heroic Muir Clan. Later, Moore ancestors made the crossing over the Atlantic to settle in Maine, where the Moore family legend “the Moores owned Boston Common” was founded. In the 1900s, three Moore brothers dispersed across the US and Canada. The youngest, KB Moore, was the first European settler in Tatlayoko Lake, British Columbia. Here, he founded his ranch and guiding business that is still run by his family today. Throughout the centuries, the family’s story has been characterized by contribution to something larger than self, through defending their homeland, to fighting in two world wars, taking on public service jobs and contributing to conservation.
